Ms. Mint Trading Post is about fresh perspectives in food- revitalization, production, and connection. It signifies a sense of mobility, of new & old, of the crossroads that Chicago is, and a coming together of rural, suburban, and urban communities & resources. I've always been fascinated with what gives life meaning-- with survival and connection. Throughout my life I have witnessed a lot of disconnect- Food, Community, Work, Education, City Folks/ Rural Folks... But the game is changing. We live in an era where these elements are coming together. Food is at the heart of our lives. I have met many passionate dedicated people committed to producing food with integrity. In pockets here and there, new stories are created that reward a sense of happiness and pride. Connections between farmers, food producers, processors, distributors, sales people, retailers, chefs, educators, waste management, and consumers create a larger story- creating the foundation for building viable local and global food systems. ....So this is where Ms. Mint makes it FUN for EVERYONE--We create new opportunities to connect! |
